This week I returned to work with only a few shifts left before I finish up and become a born again student! On the student note, School is due back next week and I was one of ‘those’ parents that leaves everything until the last minute to get uniforms, books and shoes for my child, so it has been a mad rush to scoop everything up and be “first day of school ready.” Normally every year I’m more organised but I’ve been preoccupied with wanting to avoid the shops like the plague, chilling out at home with family and a little home maintenance.
I don’t know how Tim managed to spend a few days parked on my couch with Arvi driving trucks all over him from 5:30am. I guess it was a personalised alarm for us all to get our of bed and get a little work done around the house. I really love when he visits though. We spend a lot of time watching cheesey movies, laughing at silly stuff. Generally there’s some home maintenance involved, like replacing boards on our deck and fixing backing to the benches.
One thing I love most about where we live is our neighbourhood. We’ve made some life long friends here and Ella always has a friend to hang out with. The two were so cute having a D & M while walking a couple of the neighbourhood, Sophie and Bella.
On Friday I met up with a friend who had a pretty tough week. Losing a good friend, attending the funeral and losing her job all in one week. We had heard of The Paw Paw Cafe before and decided to head there between school book collection and uniform shopping. It was the perfect place to stop and reflect on the week gone by.
I stopped in to the best kept secret of Morningside: The Rabbit Hole Cafe. They have a great menu for both dine in and takeaway. I ordered a salad to takeaway….. it was life changing! I shall return!
I hope you have a great Australia Day!
