It creeps up on you silently… You never quite realise the affect it can have on you until you’ve lived through it. Thats right! I’m talking about turning 30! For those of you younger that 30 you’ll run from the room screaming or act like it could never happen to you, for those of you older, you’ll simply roll your eyes and laugh.
For Matt Roberts, he’d been living with a curtain around his head for over 15 years, hiding under the shadowy depths of his 10 inch fringe and sporting a hardened exterior of a “metalhead” look. His mop of hair made women jealous as his locks bounced around his shoulders like a Pantene promo. During concerts, whenever he took his hair out to ‘head bang” a ring of aggressively moshing men stop in their tracks to take in a sudden wiff of fragrant conditioner! I am talking about THE most beautiful lengths of virgin hair you could ever wish to see!
Within Matts family, his cousin Kate Carlyle had been struck for a 2nd time with Breast cancer at the age of 34. Deeply affected by this he has marked his 30th Birthday with shaving his head for charity. Forgoing presents for the milestone birthday, instead asking friends and family to help raise money for the Pink Polar Expedition (www.pinkpolar.com.au) with aim to raise 1 million dollars for the McGrath Foundation and to promote breast awareness.
This mop of hair will be happily donated to the Pantene Beautiful Lengths program where it will be used to make wigs for cancer patients. It does have a natural tinge of red to it… but they won’t hold that against him Photo by Brad Wagner Photography

The Pink Polar Expedition (November 2013) will see Australian adventurer Geoff Wilson set out on a grueling crossing of Antarctica, one of the planet’s toughest environments. Geoff will use skis and kite power to traverse the ice, while hauling a giant ‘boob sled’ of supplies for the journey. Talk about “freezing your tits off!” For more information and to donate: http://www.5thelementexpeditions.com/pink-polar/
